The Post Partum period, The Babymoon, the weeks and months after baby is born, the fourth trimester, 9 months up and 9 months down - it all means the same thing. It is the exciting, powerful and sacred time where a new mother begins to define herself as a parent. She has just stepped over that threshold to new motherhood and is now ready to bond with her child and craft her intuitive gifts towards becoming a strong, confident mother. Ideally this bonding is done with as minimal interruption to the process as possible. This is how a Post Partum Doula will serve you - to protect and value the new mother and the divine work she has just done.

| Throughout history the Babymoon time has been honored as time for continued "lying in" or extended, blessed seclusion among sisters. A time for spiritual initiation, radiating beauty and respecting birth as a profound rite of passage. However, if mother is not supported post partum, she risks feeling inscure and isolated. She is vulnerable to losing wisdom gained from her birth journey. Drawing from the beauty of ancient practice - the practice of a sisterhood creating mother/baby honor - a doula will "mother the mother" and manifest a model of care that empowers the new mother. |

A doula will take care of the mother so that the mother may take care of her baby.
Services and instruction may include:
Fees for post partum care varies depending on your needs.
For long term relationships (2 or more days) we charge $40 an hour and contract out for 4 hours minimum on a single day (meaning hiring us for only an hour each day of the week is not feasible).
For $275 for 5 hours we offer a single day Journey To Motherhood. This is a lovely idea for those parents who may not feel they need the long-term services of an extended doula contract, but would like some initial support. Perfect for helping ease you into your new role as parent. We check in with you by helping with initial breastfeeding and good latch positioning, baby bathing, sleeping, and soothing techniques, normal newborn cues, and help with nursery arrangement and set up.
